Tonight Atheist Bus Campaign Hosts Streetcar Party in Toronto:

Photo-Op Available with Atheist Sign, Organizers

Toronto, ON. (March 6, 2009)–The Freethought Association of Canada
will be hosting a streetcar party tonight to celebrate the success
thus far of the Canadian Atheist Bus Campaign.  The party coincides
with festivities for Toronto’s 175th anniversary.

The evening will include drinks, food, and music at the Centre for
Inquiry, a chance for people to have their picture taken alongside the
“Probably no God” banner mounted on a Toronto Transit Commission
streetcar, and also a ride through the downtown Toronto area on a
chartered streetcar route.

“Overall the campaign has been successful, we’ve been able to put
atheists and atheism on the radar and so there’s reason to celebrate.”
said Chris Hammond, a political science student at York University.
Hammond launched atheistbus.ca early in January before joining with
the FAC to mount a campaign together.

“We’ve ran into roadblocks with a few cities but I think eventually
free speech will prevail”, said Hammond.

The party begins at 7:45pm tonight at Centre for Inquiry Ontario at
216 Beverley St. and tickets will be sold at the door. For more
details, visit www.atheistbus.ca.
